new mix is posted!

July 28th, 2007

MIXEDBYHAND - track listingFinally got my ass together and put a mix down. Alot of people have asked about a new HANDOUT however the track selection for this mix was a little smoother than a Handout mix so I thought of introducing the “MIXEDBYHAND” series.

Ive been wanting to use the name for a while and figured this would be a great opportunity to do it. Rest assured that the HANDOUT series is still in full effect and when I have a selection of tracks worthy, V2 will be on its way. I’ve posted the mix in the audio section so give it a whirl and let me know what you think. The full demo package is available to any promoters who are interested. Ill be doing a mail out very soon so hit me up with your details at jayman (at) gmail (dot) com .

These are the current thumpers i’m into right now so its kind of like a Top15 mix. The image to the right is the tracklisting, and yes, im diggin’ some FORMAT B right now. My only regret is that I couldnt fit 5 more tracks on here cause my Deadmau5 boy didn’t even make the list on this mix. I’ll have to save him for the v2 mix I suppose. Oh and by the way, this is a first and once through, straight mix with a pair of cdj 800’s , Serato and a cool brew… Enjoy.

today is a good day!

July 17th, 2007

VIVA LA LFORADIOI would have to say, today is a good day. We celebrated Dirty’s birthday last night, kinda with the usual Monday Boscos drinks and shots at Dish but with a bit more zest if you will. Needless to say I was dealing with a slight hangover this morning even though i got in around 12:30. Came into work doing my normal thing. I usually check the stats on LFORADIO when i get to work, making sure whoever was supposed to broadcast the night before did and how many listeners were tuned in. Afterwards, I check how many listeners we have at the moment. The normal is pretty low in the mornings so nothing to write home about but this morning the numbers looked a little off. I then checked the server monitors and noticed that the 64 and 24k streams were off. Before making a call to my server tech, Max, I checked iTunes…. and low and behold, what did I see? The most beautiful thing, next to my finance, that I’ve ever seen. My face probably looked like PussNBoots from SHREK…oh you know the face. There it was. I had to refresh the listing several times to make sure I was seeing it right but yep, that was it. LFORADIO, listed on iTunes. Yes, a very good day indeed.

sippin on some sizzzurrrp!

901thugsI figure I should let the story out if you haven’t already heard it. You know me or john, then you know the crunkest of crunkness, as Luber puts it, that ensues when we make the rounds. Friday night seems to be the new Saturdays for me because im always djing on the real Saturdays at DISH. Well, this particular Friday John and I wanted to take a little break from music and hit up the place that gave birth to our production namesake and the drink that iwas the cause, NaMa. You know its crunk-time when the waitress comes over and politely asks for us to cut back so the other guests will be able to have some before they run out. This HAS happened before but for this night we only made it through about 8 bottles I think but it was plenty enough to start the party train.

The next stop was the “Friday Night Bounce” at Senses. My good friend Ian along with Brian Estes, escorted us in the side-door and directly to a second line. Thanks to James for the wristbands and George for letting us in. We happen to run into JP as we step up to the door. A little conversation and i’m already feeling parched, time to head over to the Orange Bar, where Ian normally works. On our way we run into JP’s bro, Freddie. We stop and chat a little more as I notice Ian isn’t working in the “O” Bar and try to scope out his location. I catch a glimpse of him, through the small one-way mirror looking into the dance area, slinging drinks at the main bar. All the sudden, some drunk hooker spills her drink all over freddie’s pants. For some reason, we found this hilarious and we were ALL laughing, weird or wasted? u decide.

After getting past the annoying orange room and into the loud, steamy main room, Ian immediately whips up some red-headed sluts and the usual “fist” and “14″s. In the middle of guzzling shooters and talking world domination with Luber and JP, my eyes wonder over to a newly installed Patron Machine (just for the record, YES. I know better. What the hell was i thinking?) “3 patron shots from your shiny new tequila machine, sir!” Somewhere in between the shots were the stops to the VIP area, the sidebar, and through the annoying crowd, we make it outside to the patio area. Keep in mind, Memphis is famous for cheese (not the kind from Wisconsin), especially downtown on Beale. Well, as I’m going for more shots at the outside bar, a had a great idea. I thought to myself, “What person from Memphis doesn’t have a picture in front of one of those cheesy backgrounds?” I grabbed Ian, and some chick he was talking to on a break and Luber and for $10 bucks had a good laugh. It was funny but I wasn’t laughing hard enough yet so, gave the guy another $5 and he took a quick one of Luber and I doing some stupid pose. Good times.

Now about this part of the night, which was beginning to get hazy; It was crowded, and we were stumbling. John mubbles, “FOOD.” Ah ha, “CK’s!” I find it somehow to the vehicle and we make it to CK’s in midtown (don’t ask me why we went all the way there, when his car was at Senses, i have no clue) We fall up in to the place and get a seat, making as much noise as we can. I guess I wanted to review our pimp portraits over breakfast so I brought them in. However, As soon as I sit down, along come the spins. Im holding it together as much as I can. I manage to order and so does john. We gobble up the food and fumble around, trying to gather the correct change to pay……. next thing I know, Im waking up at home. The whole day I can’t remember where I put the pictures. I checked the Jeep and thought to myself, I must have dropped them while getting into the Jeep or something. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. I completely disregarded the pics and went on about my weekend. Played Saturday night and pretty much forgot about the drunkfest we took part in. Usual weekend!

About a week and a half later, Luber and I are at the house playing the wii and I get a text message from Nestler. “being able to post this on the web to all your friends: PRICELESS.” Sure enough, low and behold, there it is. Cme to find out Eric Howard went to that same CK’s on that faithful evening and the waitress asked him if he possibly knew these fools in the picture they had left on the table. Eric of course kindly accepted the photo which now resides on the Downstairs bar of EP’s, my thursday night gig. F’in great.
